Help Problems sending text messages to certain people

I have a desire hd. I live in Denmark, and now I'm travelling in US, using the AT&T network.
For some weird reasons I cannot send text messages to my fellow colleagues also travelling in US, where as I can easily send messages to persons in Denmark. I don't get an error message or anything - when pressing "Send" it just briefly shows the idle icon and then nothing happens.
I tried changing all kinds of data settings, roaming,... what have you.
Any ideas what could be wrong.

I am facing the same issue after the Gingerbread update.. But that is only with a couple of contacts... I could send them texts before the update...

everything works fine with handcent though....
 
One of the contacts to whom i was unable to send texts sent me one.. and i could reply to him...

Now i can even send him texts without any issues.. weird solution.. but worked for me....
 
Now i'm back in Denmark, and I still cannot send text messages to specific contacts. I thought it had to do with DK/US locations, but apparently not.
Really frustrating... replying to received messages does not make a difference (i.e. does not work either)

The update battered all my mms, sms and GPRS settings. My network operator couldn't even resend me the settings via sms (as is usually the solution); her system said the message had sent but I never received it. I had to go into APN settings and "restore default settings" for each one. When I went in the APNs all had "disabled" beside them.

Might be the same thing with you?

Thanks for your feedback. My APN settings look ok, though, and I am able to send messages to some contacts, so i suppose the general settings are ok.
 
i Just upgraded my desire htc to latest version of Sense, as prompted. I now find that I can't send texts to certain people - either from compose or when replying... i get a quick 'please wait' message and what I've typed stays on screen. If I exit the screen, the msg is stored as draft. If I re-open, I still can't send it. If I compose a msg to one of the people I can't send messages to but also send it to myself, then it gets sent! this is frustrating and means i cant use the text facility easily. I have rebooted the phone, checked the numbers (which all worked fine before the upgrade). please help.. .? what are APN settings . .. ?! thanks, mark

That sounds exactly like the same issue I experience .. I have no solution yet. APN settings are the mobile network settings.
 
update: APN settings fine - and also I can send fine to some contacts but not others (all names/numbers are in the same format)
 
I have been having the same issues, every time I would try and send an SMS to certain contacts it wouldn't do anything and I would abandon it, the phone (Desire HD) claiming that it had saved a draft but I couldn't see them.

I then found an option for drafts and looked in there, deleted them all and now I can send to those people I was unable to before. Coincidence? Definitely not but a random fix, try it and see if that helps?

Thanks for the input - I tried removing the drafts several times, but still no luck. Now I can't text my parents any longer ... bummer.
 
If this helps anyone I was able to start sending messages to people after recreating the contact. HTC Inspire, just upgraded to gingerbread.
 
I'm using Handcent app on my Desire, which is ok 99% of the time but I'm in UK trying to send a text to US and it won't let me. Have gone thru O2 and they can't suggest anything (except that it SHOULD work) so can anyone else help? It's not critically important but it's now annoying me to the point where I refuse to be defeated!
