Help Problems upgrading to Android 2.1

I have an unlocked LG Optimus 540 with no simm card installed, and tried to follow LG's instructions for upgrading to Android 21. Specifically, when I run the LG Mobile Support Tool to start the upgrade process the start button is not active and I get a message saying that my phone is not plugged in. Yet I had installed the USB drivers recommended as well. Any recommendations?

I'm running Win XP.

Also, I do not possess an original LG CD and am not sure where to find the latest version of Mobile Sync software. Would someone direct me to it?
 
I had the exact same problem as you but by looking around resolved my problem. You need to download the lg pc suite simply google search lg pcsuite IV download and there will be plenty of websites to get it from. Then all you need to do is set it up so its synced with your phone then it should say on the lg tool thing that your phone is connected
 
I had the same problem also but all I had to do was enable USB debugging. Even after that though, it found the phone but kept on saying it was already up to date, the only thing I could do that worked (and did work well) was download KDZ_FW_UPD_EN and a Baltic kdz file with 2.1. The KDZ_FW_UPD_EN program works very easily, even though it's a GSM phone though I had to put in that it was CDMA, it still worked though :)

This is what is happening to me. I have everything except Mobile Snc. :( Do you know where to get Mobile Sync for UK?
