Root Problems using Clockworkmod

Rcmcivor

Newbie
My phone is rooted using stock ROM, AFAIK anyway. Really green at this stuff and I rooted using some guide I can't remember a couple months ago. I'm trying to get my head back in this and want to try some new ROM's. I installed Clockworkmod ROM manager. At this point I'm just trying to get comfortable making/managing back-ups. When I try to make a back up it just reboots the phone and doesn't seem to do anything else. When I go into clockworkmod and select mange and restore, there are no backups listed so I guess that's evidence that it indeed didn't do anything. Also when I tell it to boot into recovery it just reboots the phone. Any idea what am I doing wrong?

Well, first of all, get rid of Clockwork mod rom manager. It's best to do everything via recovery.
So, I think the first thing we need to do is get the info from your bootloader screen to see how we can get you to install a recovery :)
Can you post back what is written in your bootloader screen?

Text from screen:

*** UNLOCKED ***
SHOOTER XC SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.57.0000
eMMC-boot

And then menuing below

RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC

When I was looking into this (the first time) people were talking about the Evo 4g and Evo 3d like it was the same animal, just different name based on carrier, Sprint (IIRC) vs. Virgin Mobile. Also when I go into settings, about phone, phone name says it's "HTCEVOV4G". So now I'm confused...

[edit]oops, just saw I'm in the "EVO 4G" section and not the "EVO V 4G" section. I should pay closer attention to this!!![/edit]
