Help Problems with 2.2 already!

xdblaronx

Lurker
first off i have a stock straight from the manufacturer captivate and did not tinker or root it.

I downloaded the 2.2 update this morning and right off the bat i found the unlock screen to be annoyingly different. It is not a major issue but i don't like the extra half inch further i need to slid to unlock my screen. The second i found was when i using the browser i found that the "auto-rotation" (when on) forces you to have a landscape orientation instead of me deciding to turn it to have it as such, this is also occurring in the contacts list. it is very frustrating when the accelerometer wont respond and will not allow me to change the screen direction. Thirdly i found that during a call, when i pull the phone up to my face, the screen does not sleep and i end up hitting buttons. I am so far not very happy with the 2.2, except the flashplayer and the ability to fix my accelerometer to level makes my games much better.

O... one thing i was not happy about was that they kept the same 4 short cuts at the bottom of the phone... i was hoping of an actual froyo update!

but its what ever

let me know if you also have these issues or of any others.

My battery won't charge beyond 80%. It's been stock on 80% for about 2 hours. Did a reset and all!

Update: After being plugged in overnight it finally gave me a full charge with a 100% percent indicator.

Mine charges all the way but I have had to pull the battery twice now. Reminds me of my old blackberry days...... First time it locked up completely when I was messing with Beautiful Widgets *selecting a weather skin* the second time my sounds were all jacked up. They were really choppy and full of static. I like 2.2 but if this keeps up I cant stick with it -- I have no idea how to get 2.1 back ? Factory reset or more in depth?

Yeah the unlock screen is a little awkward now.

Anyone else notice the start videos are a bit laggy now?

battery life seems to be battered even more with froyo.

OK on to bigger things...

My phone seems to be getting very hot now during calls.... I mean I've seen this before in low signal areas but every phone call my phone gets hot even with great signal. Makes me want to use the speakerphone. and no, it didn't do this before froyo.

Oh gps still sucks on my phone.

On good note the issues I have before are fixed....

LOL custom ROMs are more reliable... that's kinda sad.

Why? Its just like any piece of technology. Computers... you buy them stock, you can upgrade them to be better. Cars... you buy them stock, you can upgrade to make them run better.

Phones... same deal. Stock software comes out. Then the mad geniuses set to work... to make it better.

It would be foolish to assume stock is better than custom.

Only difference I noticed is the lock screen, just like others mentioned. I didn't have a lock setup, and always just moved the screen to unlock the phone. Now, you have to slide it all the way to the side for it to unlock. Kind of annoying.

Seems my QuickOffice icon has gotten fudged. Its now the default green Android with com.qo.android.... It still works, just a funky icon and name.

To me, locking is a pain and my wife could never figure out how to unlock. So, I installed No Lock from market. Problem solved.

Or if you want to get cute, Fingerprint scanner is a sort-of joke/lock replacement.
