Help problems with 32gb sd card

I recently purchased a class 4 Kingston 32gb micro sd card. I formatted it on my computer to FAT32. However I am having problems with storage on it. I tried moving some games from my phone to the sd card, but when I try to open the apps after the move, none are will open and all force close (the icons also go away on my app drawer). Also,I set the photo storage to sd card, but when I take a picture it says sd memory is full and saves it on phone memory. Any help/tips would be appreciated. I have DINC with froyo.

I don't have a DINC, but I recently purchased the same memory card for my OG Droid. I've also read of people having issues who formatted the card via computer, so I instead opted to format it on the device, before transferring my files to it.

Don't call it a definitive solution, but you may want to try this. For the most part my transition was smooth, though there were some hiccups that may or may not have been related to my constant ROM flashing, App2SD, and titanium backups.

I have the SanDisk 32GB card and formatted it using my computer as I had read somewhere that teh Inc. couldn't handle formatting a 32 GB card.

I would check first to make sure that your card was formatted as one continuous partition. I would also just go ahead and reformat it. Also not all apps can run off the sdcard they have to be installed in system memory in order to work.

Yeah I think I read somewhere too that the DINC couldn't format it so I did it on my computer right off the bat. I will try reformatting it on my phone and hopefully that works.

I know some apps cannot work on the sd card but was just moving over some games to get started. Like angry birds, bonzai blast, etc. Even flixster did not work on the sd card which im assuming should.

Reformatted on the computer and on the phone and both did not work. Still any app that gets moved onto the sd card will not work. Help please!

Where did you purchase the card from?

Are you rooted and what ROM are you using? I don't believe all ROMs support aps2sd. Not even sure the stock Incredible does either. I know with the Eris I had it had to be rooted and the sdcard specially formatted and partitoned to run aps2sd, there was an ext. partition it needed. Again not sure about the Incredible as I don't use it, have no need as unlike the Eris this phone has more than enough memory.

I just looked at my phone. When I had CyanogenMod 6.1 running Titanium Backup Pro had the option to move apps to the sdcard. Now that I switched back to Stock Froyo (still rooted) Titanium Backup Pro no longer gives me that option. But when I go into menu>settings>applications>sdcard I do have 2 apps installed on the sdcard that both work. I think somewhere in settings I had selected an option to let the phone decide where to install apps. That way only ones that can actually run off teh sdcard are installed there but I can't seem to find that option anywhere now.

Ignore the last two posts of mine Froyo 2.2 supports a2sd without a special partition. Here's the thing to do.

Install the apps normally onto the phone. Then go into menu>settings>applications>manage applications then tap on the application you'd like to move to the sdcard. If the application supports a2sd then the option to move it to the sdcard will be high lighted if not it will be grayed out.

Yeah I am just rooted but using stock rom. But i tried what you did but for some reason the apps all just force close after i move then over. but after doing some more reasearch i think i may have gotten a bad sd card. I got it from ebay

I can all but guarantee that you got a counterfeit card. Getting a card on eBay is riskier than consorting with a hooker in a third world country. You most likely ended up with a shoddy 2GB card with the Kingston logo silkscreened onto it. Was the seller per chance overseas?

It very well could be a bad sdcard. I bought mine from Verizon, the SanDisk 32 GB card. I've heard of people having problems with the other brands. I paid $90 for it which was a lot less than it was selling on any website. And to tell you the truth I don't trust Ebay sellers and don't buy from them, I've seen too many people scammed and its a hassle getting a refund or returning it.

Do you use Root Explorer or ES File Explorer? Both will tell you how much space you actually have on the card.

From what I've read the fake 32 GB cards are programmed so that the phone and/or a windows pc will report it as a 32 GB card. The only way to tell for sure is to run a program called h2testw. Also these fakes are either 2 or 4 GB cards to begin with so if you transfer over say 8 GB of music and some of the files are corrupted and won't play then you know its a fake. The card will allow you to transfer over 32 GB of data but since its actually only a 2 GB card it just keeps re-writting over the data corrupting it.

Damn!, same sh*** happened to me. 32Gb ($40usd) card from eBay kept corrupting my files and was never able to sync, until I used a (certified) 4Gb card, w/o any problem

For those worried that you can't format a 32GB card on the Incredible, that was an issue with Android 2.1 (and older versions on other phones). This was fixed in 2.2. You can definitely format your card inside the Incredible (via the Incredible) without issue.

yup, bumping this thread back up. Hoping there's some new info since the Gingerbread update.

I just a bought Sandisk Class 4, 32 Gig card. When I synced music with MediaMonkey, or even dropped and dragged the files; Most of my mp3s would disappear after unplugging the phone.
I checked the card with Windows Scandisk and found errors. I did a full re-format (FAT32), found no errors and copied some of my files back. I synced the music again and the exact same thing happened.

Is it just a lemon of a card?
Should I be using a different card class? Is there a better way to format the card besides Windows?

crap -- how do you tell if its counterfeit? My issue is that I take a picture and I can see it stored on the card after I take it. But the first time I access it, the picture file becomes corrupt. the access could be anything from viewing to sharing. Coincidentally, I have just over 2GB on the card. It shows in the setting as 31GB and change in total space and 28GB and change remaining. help!
