Help Problems with airplane mode.

So my phone is doing some wierd stuff after I take it out of airplane mode. I am out of the USA right now and in order to shut odd my data usage and calls I keep it in airplane mode unless I am around a wifi spot. My phone might be on airplane mode for 3-9 hours at a time. When I take it out of airplane mode and let it sit for a bit after some wifi use I notice that it will start making calls on its own. I don't know what numer it is calling but it sounds like an operator recording. I am in St. Kitts right now.

DON'T take it out of airplane mode. You can turn on WiFi while in airplane mode.

The phone may be trying to update its PRL, or announce its roaming. Either way it could be bad for your phone bill...

I noticed last night even while in airplane mode that it will start to dial automatically. I was sleeping and I heard my phone making some noise next to me and sure enough it was dialing out. I just kept on getting the operator recording.

What type of charges could I get? I also turned off my mobile data figuring that should take care of any data charges. While out I like to have my phone on me for a camera. If mobile data is off the only charges I should have is voice/sms, no? The house we have has wifi.

i have had mine in airplane mode now for over 24hrs straight. using wifi on and off at the hotel i'm staying at. I've not had the same problem as you.

Could you possibly have an app installed that is trying to dial out?

I don't have many apps on my phone. I don't think any could dial out??? Most of the basics I have like pandora, skype, scorecenter, and some games. It's happened a bunch of times to me so far. I am headed back to the sates today.
