Root Problems with Community Rom.

So I very recently flashed to the community rom after the super clean rom and was extremely happy with it, it looks great and was very snappy, only problem was that I noticed the battery dying extremely, fast, I'd have it in my hands and would surf the web and within five minutes it'd be down another percent. Anyone know of any solutions to this? Tired of this problem I decided to try flashing to Evil Fascinate but now whenever I try to boot any rom or even restore my previous ones it says E: can't mount /dev/block/stl11 (invalid argument). Anyone with any wisdom to any of these problems would be greatly appreciated.

1% per five minutes of web use seems about par to me.

Does the EVil ROM boot or do you get the errors when trying to go back/restore?

That probably is true, I guess I've never seen the actual percent before so I could be over reacting. And I go to cwm and press boot new rom from sd and click it and then it shows the samsung logo and then saying it can't mount.

Hmmmm "boot new rom from sd" I've never heard of that option.

Second this... What CWM are you running? Make sure it's one designed to work with the Fascinate... And if you go back to Community ROM (my recommendation) it comes with the voltage control app preinstalled, so you can undervolt it to extend battery life.

Yep, I undervolted it to the following settings with excellent stability and much improved battery life:

1000/25
900/25
800/50
600/50
400/50
200/75
100/75

Right now, I'm testing with the following:

1000/50
900/50
800/75
600/75
400/75
200/100
100/100

I noticed some slight lag at first, but so far, it's still running fine. With my first setup, I was able to get through an entire day with fairly heavy usage.

chasemyaccord, what settings did you pick in the upper left hand corner of the voltage program? Did you go with "noop"? I have no idea what to pick there. I selected Noop, then selected the MHz values you specified above but my battery seemed to drain quickly.
I've used SetCPU in the past and just loaded that on my Community ROM. Will see if that works better. I like the simple profile setup for SetCPU, if the screen is off reduce the CPU down to next to nothing. :-)

I've gotten the best results with the bfq scheduler. SetCPU doesn't work very well with the Fascinate and even worse with ComRom, so be careful.

I rembmer reading not to use SetCPU with the Fascinate when I first got it so I did not use it. Just tried it today and I am not overclocking, just underclocking. So far all is well and my battery usage is next to nothing. I'm basically just throttling the CPU down to 600MHz when the screen is off and that seems to be making a huge difference on the drain.

Have you calibrated the battery stats since flashing the Ron and playing with the voltage settings. Make sure the rom you are trying to flash is compatible with your version of cwm.
