Help Problems with fingerprint scanner?

Newbie
I'm having some issues with my fingerprint reader...I can't even set it up. I scan my right finger and it SOMETIMES lets me move onto the left finger, but usually it just pops up with something I can't read ultra fast and goes back to the previous menu. Sometimes this happens before I make it to the left hand, but ALWAYS happens if I do make it to the left hand...after it gets the three or four successful reads it does the popup/close BS.

This happen to anyone else?

I had that happen to me a few times when I was setting it up. Any bumping of the reader would make it cancel out the setup process. Once it was set up, it worked well though.
My biggest problem with the reader was that when I sent to initially set it up, it didn't recognize that I was scanning anything. Turns out I had to restart the Atrix 2 or 3 times before the fingerprint reader was properly functioning. I had read elsewhere that the Atrix essentially wasn't loading the fingerprint reader drivers all the time.

I had the EXACT same problem. I quick reboot/powercycle worked wonders... All is fine now.

I am having the same issue. Not able to scan figner. It does not recognize that I am scanning the finger. I see message "Swipe Finger Sensor". I have to keep redoing the configuration for fingerprint setup. Any idea ?. I am sure there is something wrong with this functionality...atleast not foolproof.

My scanner just stopped working. I had it working for two days, then today...nothing. Tried to re-setup and it won't even recognize that i'm trying to setup again. Going back to the store today. :(

Mine had been working fantastic until yesterday. I had to reboot because some other app wasn't working. When it powered on, swiped my finger and NOTHING at all happened. Didn't tell me to short or too quick or not authorized etc etc. 2 reboots later it was working.

Got the Atrix last week and set up the fingerprint scanner just fine. Worked well enough until I installed in the Defender case. Now I can't get the darn thing to work at all since the case "grabs" my finger each time I try to scan. It seems to cause a very slight lifting of the finger as you swipe it down across the scanner. That must be just enough to prevent a proper read of the fingerprint.:(

I have a friend who encountered this. After a factory reset, everything was back to normal. Hopefully this will be addressed in one of the first software updates.

When you power-on the phone, take your finger off the sensor/button until you are instructed to swipe the sensor.

Mine seems to forget my fingerprint. Over time, I end up having to reset the finger print because it will take 5-6 swipes before it reads. Sometimes, it just wont read. Sometimes its fixed by rebooting sometimes not. Ive had it about a month or two and have had to rescan my finger a few times.

Mine has done the same thing. What I've noticed is that this occurs more often when the battery is low.
After a recharge it just works. I am extremely pleased with how it just works. Feels like it's a fake but others have tried without success.

Hope that defender case cooperates.

Mine works fine in my defender case. Might need to reteach it your prints, since you swipe at a different angle, but I've not had any more problems with the phone reader than I have with desktop readers.

I cant get mine to setup initially. It will not even recognize my print one time. eventually the screen shuts down. I have tried so many times. I have given up.

I have 2 of these. Mine and my wifes. The fingerprint scanner does not work on either one. I have not done anything to them. They are about 3 months old. I have rebooted them several times to no avail. I love the phone but this has never worked for me.

I just bought a used Atrix 4G and couldn't get the fingerprint reader to work. When I tried to set it up, it didn't seem to recognize the reader at all. After reading the comments above, I rebooted several times, but that did not help.

After reading the comment above about the reader not working when the battery was low, I plugged it in to charge. While plugged in, it worked! That seems to be a strong indicator that the fingerprint reader functionality is somehow linked to the condition of the battery.

FYI, after unplugging, it recognized finger swipes to unlock the phone.
