Help Problems with Froyo?

Has anyone else had problems upgrading to Froyo? I attempted it twice and each time my phone would go completely insane near a wifi signal or during random times. Im not looking to troubleshoot it, Id just like to know if Im the only one whos had this outcome on their Epic 4G.

Doesn't the manual install from the Samsung website do the same thing as formatting/wiping/hard resetting? (As opposed to OTA)? Thanks.
