I recently replaced the mms.apk file with handcent after renaming it mms.apk. after I did this I am not able to receive picture messages but I can send them. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is going on?
I am pretty certain that you need the original messaging app for picture mail.
I would download handcent again, as well as getting the original file from SDX website and reinstall that.
I have both on my phone and never had that problem.
I am almost positive that I read somewhere it is due to changing the original messaging app.
Might I ask why you renamed the file? I've always installed handcent and turned off notifications and retrieval in the stock app. I even deleted mms.apk with no issue and used either handsent or chomp, just to see if it made a difference in battery life (it didn't). As far as I can remember, I was able to send and receive picture mail just fine without mms.apk. I would try deleting the renamed handcent and install handcent as...handcent. But that's just me...
