Help Problems with Handcent

I always thought that you need Chomp AND SMS Pop up to achieve the same function that you get from Handcent. Therefore, Handcent is superior!

It's been laggy and has force closed a bunch of times lately. Had to bring my phone in today cuz I thought it was bricked. They did a factory reset and seems all good. Thought I might try something new. 
Been using Chomp SMS today and it seems exactly like Handcent. I don't mind the stock messaging app, just want a pop-up notification. I don't need the 5 million settings like Handcent has either.

jen8112, did you try the "FlashNotify" app yet? only issue is that it notifies by flashing the 3 LED buttons and the screen... they haven't figured out a way just to flash the LED yet.

I did try that when I had Handcent but they seemed to screw each other up. I switched to SMS Pop-up and I think I like it. You use the stock messaging app and it's a no nonsense pop up for notifications. I think I like it.

I uninstalled flashnotify because it randomly caused my screen to flash for no reason. If would be fine for a while and then when I got a message, it would flash till I checked it, then after I checked it it would continue flashing until I open adv task killer and killed flashnotify. Useless broken app IMO.
As far as problems with handcent, I found today by trial and error, that if you root out Mms.apk it will cause handcent to not save incoming messages int he conversation threads. When I pushed Mms.apk back in the system/app this problem ended. So if you rooted Mms.apk from your phone this is a problem.
Also, if you guys want ur phone to run better than it has ever run, u need to install ZE10.3 or better. It considerable improves the phone to the point it SHOULD have been out of the box. Just advice.
