Help problems with hot surface & battery draining fast

i am ok using my motorola droid for few months, now its having problems. All of a sudden my phone is always hot (at the back), its like its on-use all the time. My battery drains fast. Even using the applications is slowly responding.

I have checked all applications, its turned off. (wifi, bluetooth, vpn settings, application settings, accounts & sync settings). Still its still hot and battery drains fast.

i also noticed it keeps on restarting on its own.

please advise :(

i use a motorola milestone (droid) unit

It is definitely an application problem. Install something like System Panel and turn monitoring on to see what is running all the time.

P.S. I am moving this to Droid section.

Agreed - something is continuously synchronizing or else continuously running.

Check out what you have set to synch for your Google accounts - it might be stuck synchronizing mail, or else PiacasWeb photo albums....

I never read that lol. Moved

@Lady - while theoretically they're the same phone, they're really not. So since you have a Milestone, I'm moving it here.

thanks for your feedback but i would need help in terms of step-by-step on how to check the things you all mentioned above. Sorry but I am not that techy (not familiar with the terms you are using).

Oh and yesterday, I also noticed that my "phone settings" became gray - wherein i couldn't click it anymore and it was showing that i dont have any signal. Wherein I am sure that I do have signal and my phone settings is set to ringing or silent mode.

The fact that am also confused with Droid/Milestone terms :-) I know I use the droid application and the name of my phone is motorola milestone

The Droid and the Milestone are very similar phones, but again they are different enough that many of the hacks that work on the Droid will ruin the Milestone. So far you've haven't gotten anything here that drastic. I don't have much to add, but when something is a bit wrong with my phone, I first try rebooting it. That means power it off for a minute or two and then power it back on.

Failing that, you _might_ try doing a factory data reset. It will remove your contacts, apps, reset any custom ringtone settings you have, etc. On the Droid it will require you to sign back into your google account whereupon most of those things are restored, don't know if it is so with the Milestone.

To do the factory data reset on the Droid go through this sequence:

menu -> settings -> privacy -> facorty data reset.

good luck

So, why has this been moved to the milestone 2 forum.....

EDIT: Ignore me, I'm seeing the link saying it's been moved FROM the MS2 forum. Long day(!)
