Do your APN Settings look like that?

Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names

when i click apn it is a blank screen, but when i click on it it says either add (or set i think) new apn or reset to default. the info you given me should i click on set new apn and type in that info?

Yeah, you'll need to do it twice, entering the in the top set for MMS, then create another APN using the bottom set of info for Internet.

Does that make sense? I can make a screenshot showing you mine if it makes things easier?

Here you go.

Is that ok?

do you have to enter the mms settings first or does that not matter? i entered the info from your first post, but i created the internet settings first and then mms. the internet still doesnt work, on the top bar of the phone it keeps switching to 3g to h with both arrows pointing up and down

It doesn't matter which order they are done in no, the phone knows which is which thanks to the info you put under APN type.

This is my Orange APN, looks a bit different to El's:
Name: Orange Internet
APN: orangeinternet
MCC:234
MNC:33
APN Type: default,supl

Everything else is blank.
