Problems with New China Tablet Android 4.0.3

I have just got a Chinese brand tablet for free, its called CUBE U18GT android 4.0.3, i realised it does not have youtube, facebook apps and many more. The amount of android apps is lesser than my mobile phone android 2.3.4

Does anybody know why? is it a fake android? Is there anyway i can change to a lower android version like 2.3.4? If i can change it, will there be complications or risk on the tablet?

appreciate if anyone can help as i am someone who knows nothing about such gadgets

It's not fake, you've got a Chinese version of Android. That means no Facebook, no Youtube apps etc, because those are not available in China. You'd have to find a non-Chinese version of Android from somewhere.

You're likely to have the same problems as the OP, if you buy a tablet that was intended for use in China. Usually these come from Ebay and various Chinese wholesalers.
 
It all depends, both my tablet are from China and I have full access to all the apps n games on the market.

Why you only buy from US sellers who pre mod them before sale, direct form china and its up to you.

I wonder if mine has a Chinese version of android, if there a way to tell, and does that effect what you can get from the android market/Google play or whatever it's called? Also if it is the Chinese android is there a way to change that to the full us version of android?
 
There is no difference, they just don't pre install all the google stuff. And there kinda isn't 1 android to install on all, yes they all use it but a rom for one tablet won't work on another. You just choose english during the install.

even china direct tablet update and realease new custom roms often. Though you may need to use a translate function to see the company support site ;)

Its not a big deal, find your tablet section on slatedroid.com , just more tablet focused there.
 
Everything was already in English, and looking in the web page it seems the one I have is not on the page anywhere. Guess the tablet I have is so obscure no one here or there has ever heard of it. Since I got mine from amazon and not some import store that sells stuff no one has ever heard of I didn't think it would be this obscure of a tablet as it is.

Guess if I do get a wireless router so I can go online with it I"ll find it uses some obscure android market with nothing on it. Sounds like maybe I should have gone with an ipad instead, though I dislike the apple cult thing that every apple person online seems to be a member of.
 
um no, buy the google 7 nexus, they ship in a few weeks for $200-250 quade core game machines.

China tablet just take some work on your part to be fully compliant, but you should research and buy the popular china brands with fan support.
 
I've no idea how to do any of that. I picked this one since of the low cost tablets it had a lot of reviews and was at 4 out of 5. I was going for a low cost tablet since I thought that would be best for someone who's never had a tablet before.
 
Oh and do you know what type of CPU you have?

not all tablets are listed by name brand on slatedroid.com, allot of them are listed under the CPU they have.

like my Ramos is in the unlisted Cortex A9 section.

My Eken is under the Cortex A8 section.
 
I'm not sure. Opening my tablet up the largest chip in there, if that is the cpu, has on it: AW Allwinner tech A10 c3009ca 2391

amazon has the brand listed as: Boxchip
and the Processor Type8803 CORTEX A8

Though that may not be accurate since some stuff it says is no accurate. My tablet seems to have less ram then that listed, and it has android 4.0.3, not 2.3. The picture shows a 2800 battery and mine says it's a 2200, and there is no silver round thing in the back on the board like in the picture. No idea if it is the us android, Chinese or some other type.
 
Thanks, but I don't see that type on here nor on the link you gave, Just some for certain a10 types.

Looking around in the os, I wonder why some stuff is hidden under apps all and don't show up when you go to the apps, like all the google and market stuff, and why there is a google services program always running. Maybe some reason the chinese android has it hidden, to spy on the user I expect.
 
Just so you know, if you update or flash any other OS onto your tablet, the warranty is void. Not sure if it matters. :smokingsomb:
