Help Problems With Texting

Newbie
I noticed recently that when I have over 100 text messages on my Thunderbolt, the text messaging app seems to run slower and slower. The only way I've been able to get around this issue is by deleting old text messages. Has anyone else ever had this issue and have any solutions to it?

Sounds about right. As with any phone, the more texts you have, the more it has to load when you open the messenger app. You have to delete texts to make it go faster again

My X could go over 1000 without too much lag. The bolt doesn't seen to handle it as well.

Are you using the stock app? I've beein using Go SMS Pro, and while I usually delete threads before they get to the 200 mark, it doesn't seem to slow down much up til that point, certainly not anything noticeable up to and past the 100 mark. I don't usually use the stock app though, and haven't checked it when I'm loaded up on msgs.

I used Go SMS Pro for awhile until it started having problems keeping track on contact photos. Maybe I'll give that app another shot.

Same issue here and my biggest frustration with the Tblolt!!
I never deleted any messages from my DInc and it literally held multi-thousands of messages in the stock app with no problems!

My Tbolt continues to frustrate me to no end with this issue!! The POS completely locked up yesterday while trying to text. Interestingly though, I noticed that there is no text lag while in Airplane Mode.

Had someone come in the other day that had a similar issue, phone locked up noticeably when he was in his messages. Pretty sure it was caused by pictures that ONE of his contacts was sending, but not acceptable, nonetheless. I offered to have him try GO, or Handcent to see, but he didn't want to go that route, and ended up replacing the phone. While I can't attest to if it was actually a defective phone or not, perhaps something in it was not working well with that one particular contact. (Pretty sure it was that one person, since we wiped it all out, cleared cache on everything, etc, and it worked fine again until that contact texted again. But a new phone resolved it, so...I dunno. haven't seen him back since).

I still wanted to see if it worked with 3rd party better or not.

Hesitating here to try a different messages app since I've seen others that have had the same problem with Handsent or others.
I do have an iPhone friend that sends a lot of pics & vids to me and those inbounds seem to bog it down more than others. However, this was not an issue w/my Dinc.
At one point this POS auto-deleted ALL my text messages...after that the phone and messaging ran smooth, for a while. Unfortunately right now it looks like I might have to delete all myself and start over.
