Help Problems with the SDcard ???

Hey fellows,
When i bought my Desire it came with an 8Gb class 4 SDCard, and worked perfectly. The writing speed was 5+MB/s ,but after i rooted/put custom rom/partitioned SDcard/etc... the writing speed went down to 1.5-2MB/s ... what happened?

I use LeeDroid 2.3d A2SD+ rom (foryo) ,which has a 2.6.32.15 kernel,newest radio.
My Sdcard is partitioned with ext3 512mb and fat32 the rest...i think the fat32 allocation size is 8096kb.

I also followed the "SD-Card Speed fix for SENSE roms" tut,but it didn't help.

any1?

Try to remove all the unnecessary files from SD card, so that you get at least some 20% free space. Then run SD Tools to see what the test results are.

I'm sure I read something in the XDA GV thread of transfer speeds being slower, maybe it's the same on LeeDroid?

If you have enough free space on SD card, then the only thing that comes to my mind is the fragmentation of data (although a strange thing to say for flash cards).

I also have rooted with ext3 partition, and I have about 6MB/s write speed.
If you have a chance, put another SD card in the phone and run the test again.

Meanwhile, perhaps doing a bit of a clean up would also help - remove unused files from SD card and empty applications cache (you can do that with Accleaner).

But would format of the fat32 partition help ?
Try it. Don't forget to copy all your files to PC before you format the card (including the hidden system files). Then format and copy data back to SD card.

OK i tried formating ,no dice >_> still the same.

So i'm thinking of doing it again but with an aplication,i already tried Gparted and Partition/Paragon Magic...any others???

I don't think it matters which tool you use to format the card (it is standard formated with FAT32).
It would help, if you could try another card in the phone:
- if the new card works OK, then the old one is gone bad.
- if the new card is as bad, then then perhaps it is time for a factory reset.

Could try a newer kernel, like Coutts99

[SENSE KERNEL] no longer maintained - xda-developers

The kernel is maintained, however he doesnt update the thread anymore.

yeah i just flashed a DHD rom,ReflexTSense with the cutts99 kernel and now the speed is constant around 2.5MB/s but thats still too low :(

edit : i also partitioned my sd card with PArtition Mini and AmonRAs rec...same result...Ill try to get an SDcard tomorrow, and see if the prob is persistent with the other card
