Help problems with y300 mobile internet connection

I have a new Y300 and am finding the mobile internet connection is terrible. Even in the city centre I am only achieving 'H' level of connection making the phone unusable when not connected to WiFi. This is very disappointing. Also the 'data enabled' function keeps switching off so I have to continually go in to settings and switch it back on. Please can anyone advise? thank you
