Help Process Android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly

Suddenly today my phone will not boot up, giving me the "the process android.acore has stopped ..." message. There are lots of forum threads suggesting possible causes and how to fix them, but none address the issue of when you can't switch on the device at all. I'm in an endless cycle of "force quit" and "the process android.acore has stopped". I'm at the point of having to factory reset, unless anyone can suggest anything please ...?

I too am having this issue. I cant even see my home page. its just telling me acore has stopped unexpectidly force close, try again. I have taken the battery out and my micro sd card then tried turning it back on repeatedly. Same results. Is my phone done?

I just rooted my Eris and installed Froyo. Now I get the message "Process Android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly" as it is completing booting up. The phone never gets to the home screen. I had backed it up using Titanium backup before I started, but I can't get to it to restore. Any ideas?

Let's start with this: Which version of Froyo did you install?

Interesting enough there are a lot of guess of how to correct this issue. The one that seems to have worked for me, is going into settings, unmounting the SD card, after it is unmounted pulling the card and reinserting it where it automatically mounts.

My issue was trying to edit contacts I would get the error and have to force close. After going through the remounting of the SD card I was able to edit the contacts.

Very weird. Try the simple steps before rebooting, uninstalling, or reinitializing the phone.

I get this error process.android.acore stopped as well when trying to even look at my contacts (samsung stratospere). I've tried all of these fixes above, complete reboot seems to work but who wants to loose everything.
It seems to happen when I import contacts through Verizon back-up assist after loading google account sync.

How can I do a master reset if the force close keeps on repeatedly popping up. As in, I can't even get to the setting menu (or anything really) to do the factory reset. Any help would be very much appreciated!

The instructions are here: Hard Reset HTC Droid Eris | Technipages , but here they are:

1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the Volume Down, Send (green phone) and Power buttons. The device will turn on. Keep holding down the keys unto you see a screen to clear storage.

2. Press the track ball.

3. Follow the instructions to complete the hard reset.

Hello has anybody else had this happen to them it has happened to me twice now. And think I know hoe it happens be both times it has happened it has been connceted to my pc when I power it off and then back on Please help

Happened to me 30 times by now..... Now only if i could shut up my big brother....

I've been getting this error NONSTOP for almost two weeks. It literally came out of nowhere. I was trying to send a Google talk IM one morning and it popped up. I didnt think anything was wrong so I just clicked force close and tried sending it again, then it popped up AGAIN. And again. And again. And again. And again. No matter what Im doing on my phone, its BOUND to pop up. It comes up when Im texting, trying to make a phone call, while Im on a phone call, on the home screen or even when my screen is OFF. I read that the problem might be because of my most recent downloaded app so I deleted it (Go SMS Pro or something). Didnt work. Then I read that being low on internal storage space could be the issue so I tired deleting all my apps accept two (Delete old messages & SMS Backup), and deleted over like 6000 texts and it STILL popped up constantly. (Even as I deleted all that, my internal storage memory went DOWN instead of UP though. Odd right?) I turned my phone off, took out the battery, and still NO LUCK. The only thing left is a factory reset but i dont want to start from scratch. Any advice? This error is driving me NUTS, I just want to be able to use my phone without wanting to throw it out a window.

I tried to turn it off and turn it on, but it just shows up again.... It's soooooooo Anoyying! i feel like im gonna die!!! >:( How do i stop the error is the problem...

Actually you did the right thing.

Android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly

If you go to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/ then choose the All tab. Scroll down to Contacts open it and clear the data cache. Now do the same again but this time open Contact Storage and also clear the data cache. This issue is related to an Android bug and affects many devices. It's related to apps that use the sync function.

Guys, the solution is REALLY simple. android.application.acore is an internal bug formed due to wrong synchronization of the contacts with either Facebook, GMail, etc.
The most commonly experienced problem is that when one opens the dialler or contacts, the phone freezes or completely hangs. The solution is pretty easy:
1) Go to settings
2) Go to Applications
3) Go to Manage Applications
4) Hit the 'All' tab located above. It will show you all the running applications/
5) Now scroll down to contacts, open and hit 'clear data'.
6) The next option itself will be 'Contact storage'. Open and hit 'clear data'
7) WARNING: On clearing data from the 'contacts' and 'contact storage' applications, you will immediately lose all your contacts and your text messages. I suggest you backup using Titanium Backup or other applications first.
8) That's it! Problem solved!
