Programs loading at boot

Is there a way to prevent programs from loading at boot? As soon as my tablet boots, there are about 10 programs using memory. Many of these I don't use. Can I prevent them from loading so that I do not have to kill them to free memory?

Generally speaking, you'd need to root to stop the programs running at boot. A guide for which can be found here. Once rooted, you can either uninstall 9not recommended as some may be system apps and are needed despite you not using them) or "freeze" them with an app like Titanium Backup or similar.

If you're rooted though, you could install an alternative version of the OS that wouldn't include these apps or is optimised to run faster/make better use of memory.
