Project Tango

Letting the phone know where you are, in what orientation, moving at what speed in which direction is doable (abd tinfoil hat fodder).

But someone did a study a few years go and came to the conclusion that for a computer to be "aware" in any way we understand the word, it would have to be mortal and it would have to "live" in the "outside the computer" world. IOW, that AI can probably we very well faked when computing power and speed gets high and cheap enough, but never actually achieved. Data without understanding isn't intelligence.

What happens if a debt collector figures out how to track you?

Can see where a family could keep track of kids, but I'd be worried about stalkers.

Even without physical access. Pry-Fi. Unless you turn off all the radios in the phone, they can determine who you are at a choke-point, then track you until you get rid of that phone. Randomly changing all the IDs we normally transmit when the phone isn't using the service (wifi or Bluetooth, for example) would so contaminate the database that the concept would become useless. But just wait for it - the law that makes changing your MAC address illegal.

Do you know why police scanners that could pick up cellphone signals (back in analog days) couldn't be sold in the US? Because a single congressperson's phone call was listened to by someone with a scanner, and he felt violated. So he got a law passed. If Joe Congressman's father-in-law's company can't increase profits by tracking where you're walking, preventing such companies from getting your data will become illegal.

Tango Alpha Tango, Do you have a copy?
Yes, we copy.
Engage target on my mark.
Waiting on your mark.
Tango, We have a go, Engage.
Copy, Engaging Target now.

Lol my dad had a scanner for work. I loved listening into peoples calls :D

I used to do that as well with a scanning radio. :D Of course in those days mobile telephones were analogue, expensive, and really the realm of the yuppy or the travelling sales rep. Comparatively few people could afford them. Conversations like arranging the evening's "hotel entertainment" from calling cards found in phone boxes.

Another thing I don't need or want. How about using some of those resources on something useful, like better batteries?

yeah.. saw that.. and I think it will be really great. opens up huge possibilities.

what about future games!!! wow.
CPUs and memory.. will have to increase.
and battery too!

if you are worried about "them" tracking you.. to late!

Please help.
My device: Project Tango development kit, tablet with Android 4.4.2
Shows the error message 'Unfortunately Google Play Store/ Service has stopped', it keeps coming back, even after doing all the suggestions cited bellow:
http://appslova.com/fix-unfortunately-app-stopped-error-android/
Method 1: Clear cache and data
Method 2: Update the app if update is available in Play Store
Method 3: Uninstall and reinstall the app like GPlay Store / Service.
Method 4: Wipe cache partition from Recovery Mode
Method 5: Remove unwanted launcher or disable it.
Method 6: Factory Reset your Phone. Do it three times.
Method 7: Another option to fix 'Unfortunately app stopped' is go to Settings -> Applications -> Application Manager -> Select More options menu -> Select Change System Settings option -> Enable the permissions for the app which has stopped working.
Method 8: Edit system/etc/ hosts, or remove it when Tablet is rooted (Kingroot v5.3.7 worked very well)
Method 9: disable Download Manager and/or Download.
None of them works, I don't know what else to do. Any idea?.

More Tango issues I found since 1Ene2015:
1) Some pictures can not be visible and are incomplete, with lost visible areas. Problem repeats after deleted and reloaded again. Using new external SDcards do not solve the problem, Tablet Tango keeps deleting parts of pictures and does not save well files on extSD cards (I have tried 16, 32 and 64GB).
2) Sometimes Tablet tango ignore the external SDcard even after moments of been working with it (I have tried 16, 32 and 64GB).
3) Using Total Command Version 2.71_152, deletes my files in external USB memory flash when I was trying to copy them to the Tablet's SD memory, then I try it with another files and they were deleted too. When I copy files one by one it works better, but it is not useful with a lot of files, sometimes I need to save hundreds of files.
4) Gallery does not works, it crashes. I could not update it.
5) Some times it turns off by itself, too strange.
6) File managers like TotalCommander, WSfileManagerPro crash when exploring carpets and files.
7) some sites say did not buy this tablet :
https://www.reddit.com/r/computervision/comments/44o2vl/psa_do_not_buy_a_project_tango_dev_kit/
8) Using a Sim card from my celular service provider, I can't make phone calls (I knew that previously), but I was able to send and receive SMS text messages and using mobile data, very useful for internet browsing and letting some apks work. WhatsApp didn't works.

Good things, Pros:
Main functions: 1) depth-sensing, 2) location-mapping, 3) and placing virtual objects beside/around real objects seen by the camera lens on the tablet's screen, with a better sense of accuracy, creating Augmented reality effects.
Has a lot of sensors 1) Motion tracking camera. 2) 3D depth sensing 3) Accelerometer 4) Ambient light 5) Barometer 6) Compass 7) GPS 8) Gyroscope 9) Proximity.
Its GPS works via satellite very good, with no need of mobile data, internet, or WiFi, as long as been outside in open sky, it works perfectly even with no Sim card in its slot, purely using satellite signal. Works well with Sygic, TomTom, Garmin, Magellan, GPS Essentials among others.

Finally I found a solution for error message: 'Unfortunately Google Play Store/ Service has stopped' following 4n1m4lzrddt (https://www.reddit.com/r/ProjectTango/comments/86efdb/google_play_store_crashing/) solution: change 'Select runtime' to 'Use Dalvik' in 'Developer Options'. After 2 years with this issue and trying a lot of failed solutions this saved my Tango Tablet, I was considering dumping it to a garbage can or something else.
