Help Proof that the 2.1 Camera is permanently ZOOMED!

I can't zoom at all when taking vids and my wifes can't either.

I don't think you're supposed to be able to zoom with the video recorder.

I just tried it again (without moving the camera and having it pointed at my monitor) and the video and picture have the same exact size and border.

same here. used the monitor and a sheet of paper on the desk. same for both pic and video.


6mp for pics and HD for video.

if it counts for anything i tried this and can verify the same issue at hand.

camera = 8mp
video = 720p

i couldnt replicate the issue at first, but then i used these instructions:

-take a picture of something and make it so it barely fits within the camera...
-now don't move or change your distance from this object, simply switch to video record mode and take a short video of the same object... the object will no longer fit on your screen.

and duplicated the issue.

I took a pic of my display so that it just fits, then switched to video. took about a 5 sec. video. went to the Gallery and sure enough the pic was fine and the video was cropped on the top and bottom. it cropped out about and 1 inch, top/bottom.

if it is fixed in 2.2 then its not too big of an issue for me.

so in 2.2:
there's an "8mp" and a "widescreen" selection... the "widescreen" selection I believe is identical to the "8mp" in 2.1... the "8mp" selection is identical to "6mp" in 2.1 as where the photo is still 8mp quality but isn't enlarged/zoomed/cropped out...

so this is 100% confirmed that this zoom/elarge/crop (whatever you want to call it!) is an issue... now while to some if may not be a big deal to me when i'm either with my dogs, or g/f close by and I cannot back up any further to capture them in the picture, thats when I get really annoyed... for example, in a small space like my kitchen! or both of us on the couch! or my dog giving me his paw, I can't just back up a step or 2!!! but if i'm taking pictures from a distance away this isn't a problem at all....

so leaked version of 2.2 has fixed this CAMERA zoom issue... but has NOT fixed the VIDEO zoom issue...

really appreciate everyone's help in this...
