Root Proper contact backup

saycoda

Newbie
I know there are similar threads but this is in the context of installing CWM5/6 and Midnight ROM 4. In the process of performing the steps necessary I lost my non-Google contacts, i.e. contacts with just phone numbers.

I will now go up to Best Buy and have my contacts transferred from my Blackberry to my Epic. Questions;

a. what could i have done to prevent that?
b. can I now retrieve them myself? I only BU my SD card.
c. is there a 3rd party app i should have been using?

Thanks in advance.

You can transfer your contacts over from BB to Android a couple of different ways.

If you could have, install Google Sync (I think that is the name), and it will sync all your contacts with your Google account, and then all the contacts should transfer to your new android phone. Otherwise, you can export your contacts from your BB to Outlook, and sync the new phone with outlook...

But on to the questions...

a. Did you turn off the background sync turned off on your Epic? I don't think there is an option to just save your contacts to say SD card, so if you had your contacts on your new phone they should have stayed...
b. Yes you can...see above...
c. MyBackup Root will backup all contacts, calendar events, SMS, MMS, Apps, and App data (any addition setup and personalization you have done within). You may want to spring the $5 for the Pro version, so you can transfer all the info from one device to another (i.e replacement phone).
