Help Proper Contacts Shortcut

topgazza

Newbie
On my HTC desire I had a shortcut which took me to my HTC people...on my new HTC Desire HD I can't seem to replicate that simple shortcut...its not in the shortcut list and doing the People thing give me a page full of contacts...not a shortcut...just had 18 hour working day so maybe I'm a bit tired but any advice appreciated

Sorry... not sure I've fully understood... been a long time since I've used a Sense based ROM... you don't mean a widget do you? If so, a long press on your homescreen and add widget.

Long Press -> Shortcut -> Person -> Select the contact -> Choose what you want it to do (Quick Contact gives you a popup of all options for that contact when the shortcut is pressed).

Does that do it?

Intrigued by your opening statement ;)

Widget/Shortcut...yes. I know how to put one on the desktop but it doesn't exist in the widget/shortcut options. people is there and a couple of other options but none of them give me a simple icon than when I click on it gives me all my phone contacts.

I know I 'm probably being a bit thicker but can't remember how my Desire had one that worked as I describe.

Other than that I'm loving my HD....

Ah...El Presidente.... :D

It does for individual contacts but not all of them. Would I be right in thinking I need to put them all into one group...say, favourites...and then create a shortcut to that ?

There's a quick contact widget, if you add stuff to a certain group (say favourites/family etc), you can put a widget on the home screen that will show those contacts.

Long Press -> Widget -> Browse HTC Widgets, select the contact widget and it should give you a list of groups which you want to appear. It's a full screen thing though, not a shortcut.

I think I remember what you're talking about... as I said... I do not run the stock HTC Sense ROM... I am on CM7, so things are a bit hazey... wasn't trying to suggest that you didn't know how to add widgets... :)

The "people" thing you are talking about is like all your contacts... when you go in to the dialer, doesn't it automatically have the option to choose contacts, rather than last number(s) dialed?

That's the one that I meant... glad someone's on the ball El P!! :D

I know you weren't...I figured you were thinking out loud ;)

It does do what you say with the dialler. Maybe I'm longing to much for that one icon..... I've managed to create a shortcut to my Favourites folder which does teh job as well now.

but thanks for helping out.....its good to know i'm not alone out here

You're not supposed to admit that Mr President... and get you... an Android Work Phone... some people have all the luck! Guess that you can't really go rooting that though!! :)
