Root Properly backing up SD card

So I'm about to do a clockwork recovery backup image of my internal memory on the triumph.

I have loads of folders on my 32GB SD card.

I was going to just drag and drop (showing all hidden files of course) the sd card contents to my pc, but I got to thinking that linux permissions and such might be affected.

in theory if I were to do a clockwork recovery backup and copy the sd card to a folder on my pc would i:

be able to get a new triumph, restore the clockwork backup, and merely copy the backed up sd card contents to another 32 gb sd card?

Or is there a special method to backing up the sd card contents?

the thinking here, is if my phone ever gets stolen or destroyed I want to be able to fully restore it if I need to get a new triumph.

Just copy to your computer. The file permissions won't be screwed up.
