Help Proximity sensor randomly activates

Hi, I have a problem that has recently developed. Randomly, the proximity sensor on my phone activates during normal use. I'll go for hours using the phone normally, then at some point as I raise my hand to touch the screen, the screen blanks out. If I move my hand away, the screens comes back, and so on. The only way to resolve it is to reboot the device which returns everything back to normal.

Has anyone had this problem or can help me troubleshoot it please?

Cheers,
Pete

Yeah, this has been happening to me too but on the dial pad. When I go to voice mail to enter my pin or trying to enter an extension, the screen blanks until I take my hand away.

This may not be that helpful, but I had the opposite problem where the sensor didn't work at all. When making a call the screen would go black right away, and I had to hit the power button to turn it back on in order to terminate the call.

To fix it, all I had to do was blast the ear speaker area with a can of compressed air a couple times to clear it out.

Maybe you could try it, and see if it helps.
