I've been lurking here in the weeks leading up to the release of the Inspire 4G. I obtained much knowledge from this forum, so I decided to post some thoughts of my wonderful new phone.
I purchased the phone from an AT&T retail store at about 12:15pm on Sunday. Surprisingly, I was the only customer in the store at that time.
The sales rep admitted that he had little knowledge of the device. I actually had to explain to him that there were separate compartments for the battery and SIM/SD. The rep didn't struggle much with the battery cover. However, the rep must have been too forceful with the lower compartment. I say this because as I left the store, I noticed a large crack in the middle of the SIM/SD cover. I promptly returned to the store and received a replacement SIM/SD cover. Has anyone else experienced a cracked/damaged SIM/SD cover?
The rep told me that I was the first to purchase the Inspire. I thought that there would be much more demand for this phone.
Hardware/OS: The Inspire is a beautiful phone. The screen is bright with crisp fonts. The interface is very responsive to the touch. I have zero experience with the Android OS, so I cannot comment on the OS itself. The camera takes excellent pictures with adequate lighting. The 720p video looked excellent on playback. Note: I was outdoors in sunlight.
Voice/Data: The voice clarity was excellent during phone calls. Data seemed fast enough. However, this is my first smartphone. I haven't tried any speed tests.
Wifi: I was able to connect to my router only when the SSID was being broadcasted. I prefer to turn off SSID broadcasting. I'll have to dig further on this issue.
Data plan: I opted for the 200MB/$15 plan. I have access to Wifi at home and at work. I found an app called NetCounter in the market. It appears to be a nice app for monitoring data usage. It monitors cell and Wifi usage.
