Help Purchased New LG Spectrum. Battery life concerns. Need your help.

When my phone is plugged into the charger, if I receive a text the screen will light up, but it will never time out without me having to manually press the power button. I've tried adjusting the display settings but that only applies to when its off the charger. the problem with this is that I will plug my phone in before bed. if I receive a text while asleep and do not wake to turn the screen off, it will stay on all night and my battery not only won't charge, it is in the red by the morning while it is still plugged in. it also makes the phone hot to the touch. does anyone know how to change this setting?
Are you using the stock messaging app? If you are, then check the debug menu theres an option there that you may have enabled by accident.

Alternately, charge BEFORE going to bed, then put your phone in airplane mode, should wake up with 96-99% battery, and your messages will pop in when you turn airplane mode off.

Also, it is bad for the battery to leave it plugged in all night, over time it decreases the lifespan about 20% faster.

Just a note on battery cycles, I think this thread I'd where we discussed it. My work laptop had a dead battery now, I installed some vendor application to test it, and it has a max life of 34% charge (about 45 minutes on power save mode, windows 7), and is at 567 charge cycles. I've had it for 20 months and it spends 70% of the time plugged in.

So maybe the spectrum battery life is rated in the hundreds of charges, not at 1000 (it would be a cost cutting move by LG to go to a cheaper battery)

Mediocrity: (picture of the leaning tower of Pisa) it takes a lot less time and most people won't notice the difference until it is too late.

I spent 47 minutes on the phone today with cust service, as I had an account credit on an account I closed 3 months ago and it disappeared before I got around to getting it transferred to my current account. Anyway, before the end of the call I asked her about the Verizon extended battery for the LG Spectrum and complained about how none of the stores in my state had any during the 50% sale, and none of the warehouses had any, and none of the backup warehouses had any and that I was mad and wanted it now at the 50% off rate. (she knew I was kidding, we had been having a very jovial conversation so far).

Well, she was unable to find it in the computer system, being logged in to my account online already I offered to look for it, I was not able to find it either. can anyone else verify that Verizon no longer offers an extended battery for the Spectrum? (she did rub it in that the Droid Maxx has a 16 day standby... the phone she has, but only after I we argued that the Spectrum was a better phone, by the specifications, which she did not believe and had to bring the spec pages up on both phones to compare. we were waiting on a reply from the billing department as she had to submit an inquiry to find out what happened to my $33...)

Looks like ebay and amazon are now the best places to get an extended battery for the Spectrum... The Mugen 4000mAh is on ebay at $87 and some change with free shipping, cheapest I found.

I wouldn't doubt you can't get it from Verizon. They could do a better job of supporting the device IMHO.
