Help Push email on Galaxy 551

Karan,

Will it be prudent to wait for Ice Cream Sandwitch or it won't make any big difference as compare to Gingerbread?

Thanks

Hi Karan,

Just came to know about phone rooting. Could you please tell me more about it?
How safe, secure, legal it is?
Any layman can do it or some technical skills are required?
Is there any minimum phone hardware require to do it?

Thanks
Manish

Rooting is similar to get "administrator" rights to your computer. It helps you gain access to android system files and play with them. Rooting usually voids warranty (although if u unroot it again and retain the stock features of the phone, hardly anyone can will find if your phone was rooted) . To customize your phone rooting is a basic requirement. Rooting, customizing or installing custom ROMs does not come under warranty and is risky if you are new to it . You can also permanently brick/damage/paperweight your phone.

I have read the posts in this forum and feel that you are completely unaware about what android, rooting, custom rom etc is all about. I doubt whether you will ever try rooting or customizing given the amount of risk involved and your awareness in this field (no offence intended). So choose a phone which has all you need in the stock itself.Like galaxy S!

And all phones have positives and negatives, it is upto you to decide what is important to you. There is no point asking others opinion for personal preferences like flashlight . Ask yourself and you will know better. Camera without flash is like a handicapped camera. only useful in daytime. If photography is your priority then definitely go for the one that has flash. As karan has said that both handsets are more or less same and have excellent features! :)

Thank for explaining in brief. I think Smartphone is for "Smart" people :D

Anyway, after all the discussion Galaxy S seems to be a preferred one. Upcoming Galaxy W would be best but lacks SAMOLED and Gorilla.

Karan,

I have almost shortlisted Galaxy S i9000. It would be great if you could reply to my post http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s/421818-checklist-pre-post-purchase-sgs-i9000.html
:D

Nexus S 9020 has SUPER AMOLED actually :D .(It's costlier though)

Now if you are one of the guys who wishes to update every now and then (once every two months),have the latest software and going to do try custom ROMs or stuff like a computer geek/developer ,the Nexus S is the Device to own

If however you are going to use it as a smartphone ,update it less frequently (once in four months) ,use the phone to it's max capabilities ,want a decent GUI (Nexus is vanilla ,Galaxy S is choco-dip) ,good music player and some stuff which you dont want to customize ,Galaxy S is the way to go .

Between the two ,Galaxy S is no brainer (or actually wait for the Galaxy W )
Of course if you like flash ,you can go for Nexus S but soon 16 GB will be filled and at that time updates wont be a priority
