Root [Q-Help] Screen Won't Auto Rotate

so i've been using AOKP's build 4 since it was released on Sept.30

all of a sudden Tuesday (9th) or Wednesday (10th) this week, i noticed my screen stopped auto rotating.

i've tried everything i could think of.

* laying it on a flat surface and toggling the auto rotate.
* while flat, disabling it, restarting, enabling it.

i have downloaded apps that check the gyro and accelerometer. they are both detecting movement when i am trying to trigger rotate. but it's just not rotating.

then today, i flashed Cyanogenmod's monthly-2 release. hoping that the latest 4.1.2 update would fix it, but it's still not working.

any clues?

yep. all the settings are in place, but nothing is rotating.

[UPDATE]
so i was downloading different apps- mainly games trying to test out the rotation to see if that is buggy too, and i came across this app...

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsInphdXNhbi56ZGV2aWNldGVzdCJd

with this, i was able to test the Gyroscope and Accelerometer sensors and i noticed the blue axis (z-axis?) was not moving at all.

i then gave a few door knocks on the back plate, and all of a sudden the z-axis jumps to the correct view.

somehow it got stuck in place, but it seems to be working now. very odd. i've never dropped it. don't know how this could have happened.

Yes I am at 4.1.2, received my Nexus 7 yesterday. When I enter an app that forces landscape mode it will change to landscape mode and when I exit it stays on that mode and no matter how much I turn my tablet it won't change to portrait mode. Triple checked the auto-rotate option is enable. All the sensors seem to be working. :/ I doesn't change the mode in the home screen, in chrome, in youtube, anywhere..
