Root [Q] Soft Keys

i dont believe this is normal, im running the samething and my buttons are lighting up, altho they are alot dimmer then they are on stock, which i dont mind, cause itll save my battery
 
You can try

settings > profiles > default

In the application groups select each of the groups and click on lights mode set it to on/off whichever you want/need

been awhile since I messed with this, hope it helps
