Did a search and did not find anything on a comparison between qik and ustream in these forums.

So I come to you fellow Evo'ers. Which app is better in your opnion FOR LIVE VIDEO STREAMING (not for video chat and such).

Qik
Qik | Record and share video live from your mobile phone

or

Ustream
USTREAM, You're On. Free LIVE VIDEO Streaming, Online Broadcasts. Create webcasts, video chat, stream videos on the Internet. Live streaming videos, TV shows

I personally like ustreams interface online much more than qik. Ustream at least has the categories to choose from, where-as qik just has MyHome MyVideo Explore and Logout. And From what I can tell......more of the general population is on ustream.

I recently tried ustream and it seemed decent, but I'm wondering if Qik is better, so I'll watch this thread.

I mean it just seems that ustream has more viewers and a better way to search videos to watch online.....i mean seriously, on qik.com all you can do is search.......ustream you can at least jump to different catagories. How do you find something amusing to watch live if you cant even browse through the videos!

I have a Moto Droid and have tried both Qik and Ustream several times to see which one I would use. I personally use Ustream. The observations that I made are both under 3G since I use this service when on the road... (At home I use a webcam and a PC that is much faster and better quality.)

- Qik has longer delay (several seconds) and the video is not as smooth on live streaming , but once is on the server the final quality is a little bit better.

- Ustream is very smooth and the delay is very short (just a couple seconds), but once in the server the quality is a little bit worse.

Since for me this only for streaming purposes, the Ustream is much better. If I want to record a very good quality video with the phone (not streaming) I simply record using the native video recording.

Every once in a while I try booth again to see if the Qik improved, but as today, the long delay of Qik makes Ustream a winner for me.
Cool features that I like on Ustream is that people who are watching you can write in the chat and instantly it shows in the screen of your phone and you can ask questions and start a pool and see the result. You cannot type back but you can talk to them. I guess Qik has something similar...

I don't have focus issues. There is an setting called "compatibility mode" under options... Mine is unchecked, but I would give a try to see if the camera behaves better for those with focus issues.

Seems that once again you must have 2 application website memberships to use all the best features out there. that's an annoying trend. it's often difficult to get friends and family to sign up and try 1 app, much less 2.
I have 3 photo apps, 3 social network active memberships, 3 video sharing memberships.... no one cares anymore what i'm doing, they never know where to go. becomes a big PIA if you ask me to try this stuff... i love the ideas all of them, but comeon. presently i'm partial to qik, but will have to try the paid version to see if it adds anything. ustream is all free, thats good.
