Q's about the Fascinate

Currently I own the DX and hangout in the DX forums...
I have the opportunity to get the Fascinate..simple yes or no answers would do.

I wanted to ask you Fascinate owners about somethings Ive read or heard about the phone..

Some of my concerns
1. No froyo yet and no word when right?

2. No LED notification, but there's a kernel for the Capacitive buttons to light up right??

3. Color is a bit over saturated..is there "color fix" like for the Captivate?

4. Is there lag fix for the Fascinate like that Captivate?

1 not yet no....and no official word....best educated guess atm is a few weeks to a month

2 yup no led but all kernels built now have backlight notifications built in....you can download the app to schedule/control them

3 colorfix only works at brightest setting....and tbh i feel its not neccessary

4. Many kernels are smooth and clean enough that lag isn't noticeable....however we do have voodoo 5 lagfix kernels that many of us use and are quite happy with. :)

I see you have moto X on your devices. If its the Droid X, which would you say you like best?

i had the x, but i was getting bored by the lack of rom/kernel flashing ability on it so i picked up an incredible....but the incredible screen was too small for me, so i sold the x and got a fascinate.

i will say out of the box the x was the best of the 3 phones...however when i found myself (inspite of the small screen) only using the inc i knew the x was a goner for me...i dont regret going to the fascinate....i personally like the community a lot more, and despite the lack of froyo its still an exciting device with daily kernels and the progress towards aosp.

many formers x-ers have jumped to the fascinate and seem happy...but others have and then wanted (or have) gone back quickly

you really need to run custom kernels to make it a phone on par with the x....but since im very anti-motorola because of their policies towards hacking, the fascinate has been a great move for me :D

Forgot to ask about the camera between the F and X.
I keep hearing that the Fascinate takes better pictures and video than the DX...whats your opinion on this?

i think they are very similar really from my experiences....obviously the fascinate only has a 5mp camera...but quaility is quite similar imo
 
What's this about over saturated colors in the Fascinate? I find the display to be very, very nice indeed.

yes, there is a "bluish" tint...but honestly the droid x screen looks so bleh to me compared to my fascinate now....everyone has their own takes on amoled/samoled...but if you like, you love it...if you dont, you hate it :)
 
The blueish tint is by design and is an affect that should wear off over the life of the phone. It's due to the fact that blue pixels have a shorter lifespan on an Amoled screen. Ideally, you would adjust the color throughout the life of the screen, gradually increasing the blueness to keep the color perfect. To compensate for the fact that most people would never adjust it, Samsung designed their Amoled screens with larger blue pixels compared to the other colors. So at first they are too blue.

Yeah I fall in that category..I don't like the bluish..but I'm sure near the future there will be a fix..

My last question.
Say I want to load the Super Clean DJ05 v0.9 Rom.
I see you have to change the radio and kernel..
Since having the X, I'm limited to true Roms..
Would changing the Radio void any warranties and can I go back to the stock radio?

If your rooted that voids your warranty. But if you want to try it there are the files out there to completely take you back to stock

rooting in general voids your warranty with your carrier

that being said, we do have the dio1 revert radio to go back to the latest official build :)

Can you guys direct me to where I can download the stock image?
...I think im gonna get the Fascinate..I want to be prepared.

adryn has threads for an all in one dio1 file for odin here in the root section...the individual files are at xda under fascinate development
