Quad Core Technology

Alright......this is for those among us who are more technologically inclined.......:) What specific advantages will the soon to be coming quad core smartphones provide us........know they will be good for gamers and in some way enhance battery life ( with the same lithium ion battery technology ).......

What else ??

unless you know something i don't, I'm not sure how they will improve battery life. The only real advantage i could see to a Quad core is in gaming.

Honestly i don't see the point in even producing Quad core phones. I really think Dual Core is the sweet spot. I mean how much more do we need in a phone? I would rather the manufacturers keep the dual core and focus on making that Tech more efficient.

It's really another method of throttling processing power on-demand as a method to balance performance and efficiency. Throttling processor speed and CPU voltage is tricky, causes more errors, and provides small gains. Being able to shut down entire cores provides larger improvements in efficiency, but will require a shift in the Android Framework to realize its potential.
ICS is a leap forward in utilizing multi-core, but really only the first step. As applications make more demands on processing, and end users demand better battery life, multi-core processors will find themselves even more useful in phones than in laptops.

Yea im not really interested in Quad Core. I don't plan on trying to run The Elder Scrolls Skyrim on my Rezound. And i don't see how it could help battery life. They said the same thing for dual-core.

Sound really cool and all, but like the others, I will be happy with what I have "Speed wise". I really think technology is getting ahead of itself. :)
