Did the Epic get Gingerbread update? That would bump the score up.

The Gingerbread leak for Charge, brought the score up to 1300+ with no tweak.

thats a nice score, the epic just got the 2.2.1 thats it, any words on the official update for charge or any update?

why cant the charge do the same?

The charge is using a slower filesystem (RFS), which holds back it's read/write speeds. This is what causes the lower Quadrant scores. The reason rooted people are getting higher scores is because they're using Voodoo lagfix to change the filesystem to ext4 instead of RFS. Ext4 has a better read/write speed, which in turn boosts Quadrant scores and has a tendency to make the phone feel less 'laggy'.

That said, I have no clue what filesystem the Epic uses. Since it's another Samsung, it's quite possible that it is also using RFS, which would make the filesystem a moot point in the difference in score between the two.

Was it ever determine if the GSII is RFS or ext4? I will say, I went with a Voodoo lagfix kernel and I'm scoring 1700 on Froyo, up from 900 and change, stock.

GSII is running on EXT4. That's why it's dual core is hitting 3200 on Quadrant.

SORRY, NO WAY. The highest I EVER scored before rooting was 977. As long as you are using and RFS file system you wont get scores that high. Even if rooted but still on a RFS file system you will see higher scores, like 1300ish.

Now the highest I've had was 2200, rooted and OC at 1.4, non overclocking on 1.9.1RC with imoseyon 13.3 it was 1750-1800... :D

I did just jump to the 2.3 early release and am back on a imnuts kernel. Quadrants dropped a bit but overall feels smoother.

Well it's wrong here.

The new leaked stock Gingerbread ROMs will give you around 1300-1400 without rooting.
