Root Quandrant Score after root?

looking at either a droid x2 or a charge and i was wondering what your quadrant score was before and after root?

I'm running Gummy Charged 1.9.1 EE4 (latest Froyo) with Voodoo lagfix enabled and I just got a quadrant score of 1508.

respectable. going between this and dx2 whose quadrant is off the charts like 2253 i think is what it did for me in store

Well, the validity of quadrant scores is a topic of very heated debate amongst the forums, so don't put too much stock into those numbers.

I would recommend checking out the forums for the X2 and read about the issues that are most common. I've heard nothing but fairly negative user reviews which is why my decision was between the Dinc2 and the Charge.

The Charge had the bigger (and quite beautiful) display, 4G access at no additional cost, and was quite simple to root. But... it all comes down to personal preference and which aspects of your future device are most important to you.

good point sir. i just dont think i could go back down to a smaller screen otherwise the dinc would be an option

The DX2 is also known for problems playing media. Stuttering, randomly skipping to the next song (Pandora and local media), etc. I also had more random boots in a week with that phone than I have with any other. I don't think they quite have the dual core firmware down yet.

To your actual question, stock Quadrant scores are around 900 and the phone can tend to feel a little bit slow. After rooting and applying Voodoo lagfix (ie. changing the filesystem from RFS to ext4), it's usually high-1500's to low-1600's. I don't really notice much difference in the way of usability compared to the DX2's 2200's. Quadrant is so reliant upon CPU that of course the dual core would score higher, but it's almost a false reading... or at least doesn't relate to a real world increase in usability.

and my Fascinate with CM7 at 1.4Ghz (single core) ran a 3000.......but it was around 2500 at stock 1Ghz speed on CM7.....just goes to show how terrible the software is holding back the DX2

i have the charge on order and it should be here tuesday or wednesday. i think im going to be really happy with it. not going to root it right away because i want to wait on GB, but ill be at that point eventually

I was running humble, overclocked, just to see how fast I could get it. It was a little over 1800 but that doesn't mean anything. My battery life with those scores were a total joke

If I were in a 4G area I would keep the charge. Out of the box the DC seems to have alot more lag than the X 2. Installing ADW exe takes care of lag issues pretty much on both phones. With the charge I also noticed that if you go to menu>add>shortcuts>applications, it can take a ridiculous amount of time for the apps to actually open. No doubt caused by the ancient rfs file system that Sammy uses.
I have also noticed that the reception for both calls and 3G are exceptionally better on the X 2 for me. The X 2 has also received the GB update.
I have no preference at all to either phone, Not living in a 4G area just made my choice of the X 2 a better fit for me in the area that I live in. ymmv
If you are into rooting and custom roms, kernels, then SC all the way as the X 2 has a locked bootloader.

dan409, how are the media skipping/stuttering issues on the X2 after the Gingerbread update?

Happy to report so far so good ! Had a friend send me texts with the music player going and so far no problems. Youtube, netfix, camcorder all stutter free ! For once I think they got this system update right.....;)

Runnnig gummy 1.91 and voodoo fix I get scores between 1550 and 1700 depending on how many times I run it. No overclocking, just the lag fix. I tried the X2 and hated it. It seem to lag much more than my DX rooted. The DX running rooted froyo not overclocked was getting me about 1350 whereas the DX with GB was much faster on the quadrant. But, it was much slower in acutual operation.

Root
FRoyo rom, (Gummy, Humble, Eclipse, or stock deodexed)
Lagfix

... and you are ready to go!

Humble got a nice speed boost with version 1.51. I'm seeing scores regularly in the 1690's. I'm using Humble v1.51 with Imnuts' non-OC PBJT kernel.

literally rooted today on gummycharge 1.9.1, max stock quadrant was 977, immediately following root i got 1690 something. ! No overclock or setcpu touched yet. :D

speaking of which, if anyone has a good battery saver yet performance increase setup for setcpu or other can you plz post for me. thanks.

Just used SetCPU 2066.

Still loading apps and setting things back up, but I went with PBJ non-OC + Voodoo and Eclipse 1.3.1, all updated over the weekend, and I scored 1710 this AM. Score aside, from the feel of things, this is how this phone was meant to run. Need about a week's worth of testing, but I successfully streamed music via bluetooth in the car this morning on the way to work with ZERO hiccups - a first. The bloat and/or file system really has the Charge bogged down right off the shelf.

My wifes Revolution with a snapdragon processor is a lil above 2900, but i dont see too many of these so I am not sure what "high" is.

I'm running GummyCharged 1.9RC2.3. My Quadrants are around 1700 and my most recent AnTuTu was 2998 (scores top to bottom: 353, 601, 142, 266, 1139, 345, 29, 123).

I'm one of the people who had trouble with GummyCharged when all four partitions were using ext4 filesystem format. I now only have /system and /dbdata as ext4. CPU speed is stock 1GHz.

So are you saying it runs better with /data and /cache on RFS? Mine is all still on EXT4 and I love the way it runs but the best Quadrant score was in the high 1500's.

No. There are some people that are having trouble with GummyCharged GBE 1.9RC2.3 when all 4 partitions are running EXT4. For me, when I had all 4 partitions on EXT4, I had a data wipe every time I rebooted. For me, this was different than the whole "go into recovery, phone data wipes" issue. Mine was wiping without going into recovery. Once I went into recovery and re-flashed Gummy, I booted and it showed up as my current half and half EXT4/RFS. I think it's an oddity with the hacked EP1Q kernel.
