Question about activating Google Nexus on T-Mobile

Okay, I'm a bout to order a Nexus from Google. I want to activate it on T-Mobile, whom I do not have an account with. I heard you can just order the $0.99 sim card on their site and you're good to go. But today at BestBuy I saw a T-Mobile activation kit for $20 that included a sim card. So, my question is, do I need the activation kit or just the sim card to get all set up? Is this $0.99 sim only for T-Mobile branded phones? Thanks

Thanks a lot, yeah the only reason I thought they were different was the crazy difference in price. BTW, I did get to fondle a Nexus today at BestBuy, freaking awesome can't wait til I get mine next week.

Make absolute certain you get the right prepaid plan (because there are two 30 dollar ones). This one here is a web only (from the T-Mobile web site) special for first time customers and is the one you want to be sure to get: $30.00 100 minute 5GB of data. If you accidentally get the other one (1500 minutes of talk or text with 30MB of data), its a royal pain in the backside to get switched.
