question about droid eris

im a n000b in the android world(was a apple fan lol) my question is that lets say i buy a htc droid eris from ebay, can i unlock it to use it in belize(we have both gsm and cdma networks) ? another question lets say if for any reason i need to format the phone does it need an unlock again(like in iphone if you restore it you need to unlock it to use it again). and last question if i wipe out the phone will i loose my phone number(since eris is cdma and dont use sim card)

You will have to take it to whatever company your with so you can get the phone programmed to your number. Or maybe call them so they can transfer the number over. Although, it could be a hit or a miss on whether or not it will work. Some people have allegedly gotten the Eris to work on other phone networks.

i know to activate it i take to the phone comapny and it works. but is the phone unlocked(or can i unlock it) also if i wipe out the phone will i loose my phone number too?
