Question About enabling Hardware Acceleration

From what I know most custom ROMs have hardware acceleration enabled, but I only ready posts about it making games faster. Does the hardware acceleration affect the speed of the ui at all, for example menu scrolling? Does it enable internet pages to render faster or is it just for games?

As far as I know, HW is usually only partial, affecting mostly the UI. HTC Sense is for example said to have it enabled. This however, doesn't affect the apps, including browser.

OS wide acceleration is expected in the next Android OS version ICS.

Specifically the Evo 3D, it runs 2.3 Gingerbread. It has 1.2 ghz dual core and Adreno 220 (I think) GPU.

Well the Evo 3D isn't out yet, and I'm unaware of any custom ROMs made specifically for that phone. What's your question, exactly?

Ok, let's use the first Evo for example. To my knowledge hardware acceleration is turned off in every stock phone ROM that runs Android. The iPhone has it enabled out of the box and a lot of people say that's why everything is so smooth on it. I want to know if I enabled hardware acceleration, will apps such as games and the web browser benefit?

@coolio86,
Look at post #2 above. There is not much you can do now about HW acceleration.
Yes, if it is OS wide enabled, then most likely other apps like browser will benefit from it.
We should wait for it in the next major OS version.
