Help question about exchanging evos

So I got the evo, everything works perfectly except that I haven't seen 3g at all, I only get the 1x connection. My 4g works great. I know I read that some people had their 3g disabled kinda randomly on VM's end, so I called and told their tech guy the issue. He seemed pretty confused with the whole thing, and I still have the problem.

My question is, should I transfer my service back to my optimus so that i can bring the evo in for an exchange? Can I do that on the website?

I would email the virgin angels before you do anything. They seem to know more than the hired monkeys in India.
