Help Question about Facebook Sync.

i've even tried going to accounts and sync and updating but the contact pics dont always update but whats even more strange is when it updates then goes back to the way it was before

In the accounts/sync menu,you have to delete your Facebook account from the list, and then immediately add it back, sync it, and then the contact photos will update
 
Ok, so I was looking around for this for quite a while. Without finding any info on the subject, I figured a way to do it:
Go into your settings > Account & sync > Choose the Facebook account > Remove Account

then add the account again, give it a few minutes, profit.

worked for me. least, for "my contact card" picture. For just user profile pics, idk. mine updates just fine. It sounds to me like you guys are not staying logged into facebook? idk, just a thought.
 
I also dont have any updates. Been a few weeks since my friend changed their facebook pic yet it hasn't changed on my phone. Tried the suggestion above about unlinking/relinking which didnt work.

However, I was able to fix my contact card's pic with the suggestion by quannumkid.

yes, this worked for me as well. A little annoyed that a quicker/selective update of profile pix isnt available. I guess FB is a little less than Incredible onthe Incredible.

Is it possible that FB for HTC Sense isnt compatible with the Incredible? Thinking out loud here.
 
Maybe a real fix will come with 2.2. This is pissing me off already haha I just got my phone yesterday
 
I think I somewhat figured this out, at least for your personal contact card (but I feel like it should probably work for any contact). go to: people>my contact card>menu>edit>menu>REMOVE PHOTO> then click where the photo used to be (should be a gray camera in the box) and click where you want it to take the photo from ie. "facebook". It isn't automatic and i wish it would just syn and change on its own, but it's better than nothing.
 
This is really bugging me too. My profile pic doesn't update unless I tell it to, and none of my friend's pictures update.

When I set up my phone, it only recognized about 10 contacts and linked them automatically, and I had to manually link the rest even though their name was exactly how it appeared on Facebook.

If I remove my account and re add it, will I have to go through all that trouble again?

Also, is there a fix for "all your facebook friend's numbers are now in your phone" bug? I want just my contacts.
 
Hey all, so i haven't found a fix to this problem but i've sort of found a solution...there is an app on the market called SyncMyPix which syncs your contact pics with your facebook to update your contact's pictures to their facebook picture. It works really really well. I've been using it ever since i got my dinc and I have it set to sync every day and it changes the pictures immediately. It also can grab high res pics (htc sync often gets smaller, blurry pics).

It recognizes contacts and matches them up with their facebook pretty well but it might take some manual linking of your contacts to the right page but its well worth it in the end. Good luck!
 
Same problem. Certain friends' pictures do not update. De-sync and re-sync forced an update.

However, I have a friend that doesn't even show up in my list of facebook contacts through HTC Sense. It's just one random friend and I have no idea why, but I want to link her fb profile to her phone contact info. She shows up fine on the Facebook for Android app, but not through HTC.
 
I've been having this same issue as well, but haven't had any luck with any of the solutions posted, except for removing and adding my facebook account (which is too much of a hassle).
 
Okay so i have linked all my contacts with their facebook profiles, but the problem is it wont update itself when they change their picture. Ive tried re-linking but the pic is still the same. Does anyone know why this would be happening? Also how do I make all my contacts part of my google account?
 
this is a well known problem since the incredible came out. the majority of my contacts have never had their pictures update even though they have changed their picture on facebook.
 
even with the update to froyo only certain contacts will continue to update their pictures as they change on facebook. i don't understand, and am so frustrated!! my gf changed her facebook profile pic a month ago and for some reason her pic will not change in her contact info. only a select few will actually change when that person changes their profile pic. i know it's something stupid and not that important but why doesn't everyone's pic change when they change it?? i have everyone linked up properly..
 
Not sure but I have been having this issue since day 1 with the Dinc. I just went into Menu>Accounts & Sync> and clicked on Facebook for HTC Sense and then removed the account. I then added the account back in, manually synced it again, then went into my address book and moved that little icon over the Web (or world Icon) and chose Facebook and then hit the menu button and had it re-sync all those contacts and now they are all properly up to date! Finally. Now I just hope it updates them manually instead of me having to do this every now and again.
