Question about factory reset

WombatMan

Lurker
I have the original Motorola Droid and it's starting to run really laggy and slow. I'm planning on doing a factory reset, and I have a question about the SD card. I know that the factory reset doesn't actually effect the SD card. However, in the last year that I've had this phone I've installed apps that have put things on the SD card, created new folders, etc and it's gotten kinda cluttered. I'd like to also return the SD card to the factory state.

My question is: if I back up my pictures & music and whatnot, then just nuke my SD card, completely format it... will that mess anything up? Will Android create all the folders that the OS needs to work when I put the SD back in?

Thanks!

Greetings WombatMan,

If you copy the contents of your memory card to your pc, then format the card with your phone, it will rebuild all the folders and files that it needs.

You can then copy what ever you want back to the SD card from your computer.
