Question about files and performance

First question...If I get an evo (or any android based phone) does it need to be activated for me to use the wife feature and download app from the android marketplace? Or do I need to have the phone activated to access the marketplace? Will I even be able to use the wifi?

Secind question...I figured smartphones are smart. Can I download mp3 files from the internet to the phone itself? In more detail, I use zamzar for my music. I go to youtube, copy the url of the song/video I'm watching, zamzar converts it to mp3, sends it to my e-mail, I follow the link in my e-mail, and the song begins to download. Is this possible on the Evo? Even if the file can't be opened unless I do something on the comp first, as long as i can actually download the file.

Help is greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure the Evo would make a very good wife. It wouldn't nag very much, which is good, but the cooking, cleaning, and make-sexy-time would be very underwhelming. I would consider browsing through a Russian catalog.

Thx for that info. Why do you think it will be bad for wifi?

And can anybody inform me about downloading mp3 files?

a. the phone can do data without a cell connection, just will have to sign in or create a google account once on to login to marketplace.

b. they can download files and, if they are of a correct format, play them.
