Help Question about International Samsung Galaxy S2

Hello all!!

I just purchased the international version of the Samsung Galaxy s2 and is expected to get it the first week of May.

I have a question, I currently have AT&T with the Atrix 4g and I was wondering if the Galaxy S2 will support HSPA+ with AT&T.

Thanks for all the help!

I am also wondering this.. I am on at&t and want to buy an unlocked sgsII without having to wait for the at&t version and all the crapware and sideloading locked.. Would be nice to be able to have the "4g" capable.. It says up to 21mbps for specs but will it work on at&t is the question.. Plus I will be traveling so will be nice to have the unlocked version where I can just pop a sim and go!
Thoughts will be appreciated..

The only thing that keeps me wondering about this, is on this page. Samsung GALAXY S II

All the way at the bottom you can see a note that says..
product specifications and service availability may differ by country.

Almost sounds like they are releasing multiple versions with different combinations of radio freq, but if that was the case it wouldn't make sense to list it as Quad Band.

Does anyone know if there is in fact definitely going to be an "international" version or did we android fans across the globe make this up like we do with rumored release dates?

The "international version" is the sim-free unbranded phone you can buy in European countries at individual retailers. Branded phones might have some weird stuff going on, but the ones from phone retailers themselves should be international and work for all the countries that support it.

Engadget has had some issues with the T-mobile G2x (Optimus 2x) connecting to At&t, and that phone is supposedly quadband. However, it is a branded phone, and T-mobile does require the 1700 AWS band, so maybe they added a band and dropped another band or some other weirdness is gonig on. This is a branded phone however.

How did this end up working out for you? Also where did you buy the S2 from? Price?

Over on xda AT&T users are reporting getting equal to or better than iphone speed in the same location in side by side speed testing. This with the uk international version which along with the Korean are the only S2 models out. Buyers over there have been using clove, handtec, and expansys for the most part. It is now well proven the phone works out of the box by multiple users so this one has been put to bed guys.

But the phone is working properly with 3g or you are getting that speed but still connected via the GSM network?

It is working properly on 3G and does equally as well as a native device like the iphone 4 on 3G including whatever you want to call their fake 4G. You cannot get 3G speed on edge although in a weak signal area edge can sometimes be faster than really crappy 3G.

It does work on the AT&T HSPA+ network, which AT&T considers 4G -- I've been using it for almost 2 months now. From what I understand, it will not work on the LTE network AT&T is building, as it does not have the LTE radio.

Thank you for all the info on what appears to be an incredible phone. So unlocked it works fine on AT&T. I travel several times a year internationally and have used my pathetic but OK BB. I have purchase pay ad you go Sims for both phone and wan separately but never for a smart phone. The unlocked version is of great interest depending if I can easily purchase this without contract. Can anyone answer this?
