Root Question About Link2sd/partitioning :)

Hi all i recently rooted my phone and then made a 1 gb partition on my 8gb memory card and installed link2sd.

Problem is im not quite sure why.... Im a bit confused as to why i had to make a partition. Basically im a bit lost when it comes to what is actually being stored on that partition, and i dont know how to look.

On link 2 sd i can see that u can create a link or move to sd. So i simply mass ticked all available apps and clicked move to sd, simple. But then u cant create a link and move to sd, just one or the other. Whats the point of create link when u can just move all to sd like i did?

When i move all apps to sd, are they moving to my 7gb of remaining sd, or too the 1 gb partition? If its to the partition, then wont it become full fast?

I just dont understand the create link button because surely you'll save more internal memory moving whole app to sd rather than just creating a link, because you cant move to sd after pressing create link button, and theres no apps that have the option to create link, but not the option to move to sd.

sorry for all questions, but i want to make sure im not missing something here (which i guess i am).

I've never partitioned my SD Card, but it's my understanding the 1GB partition acts as an extension to the phones internal memory and the space remaining on the 2nd partition is used as an SD Card.

The Desire HD has quite a hefty internal memory, so you'd have to install loads of apps to fill it (most apps are less than 4MB). Were you running out of space?

Well i wasnt running out of space no but i wanted to be prepared I just wondered basically if there was any advantage to pressing create link on an app instead of moving to sd?

because all my apps can be either, and it makes more sense to me to move them to sd
