Question about pending froyo update

I have an intercept with VM
Apparently the update is coming this week.
I was wondering how it happens. Does it just download to my phone?
Is there any advice on how to make the transition smoother?

I don't think anyone knows for sure at this point, but the update should be over the air. If it follows previous OTA updates form, it will download to your phone in the background and when it's finished you will get a notification to complete the install. If you're the nervous type, you might want to do a backup before you tap yes, otherwise there isn't any preparation necessary.
 
Here's a question, if I have this thing rooted will I have to re-root after the update and anyone know how difficult it will be? My brother on the htc evo running 2.2 had a heckuva time rooting his phone, but he had some advanced nand locks he had to break. I have many root only apps that I need to be able to run. Btw, fsm has touched me with his noodley appendage. Him and Hitchens, Dawkins, Harris and Hicks haha

Interesting if true.

Someone with a twitter account want to ping @virginmobileus to see what the status is?
 
Its actually a very smart marketing ploy. Lead customers on to believe that the Intercept will get 2.2 as this will assure clearance of the phone as Virgin introduces their new 2.2 handset that replaces the Intercept (LG Optimus). Then after the shelves are clear of the Intercept announce a "change of direction" on the update and presto, no old stock to clear out and no money wasted on the Intercept 2.2 update... :)

I hope you got someone that didn't know what they're talking about.

if this is true, i'm going to be pretty pissed.

EDIT:

this was posted an hour ago on VM's facebook page.

"Virgin Mobile USA Hi Jorell, The update is being rescheduled due to some internal timing issue. We expect it will be ready by April 4th. ^PL
about an hour ago"
