Help question about reboot apps

the reboot apps that I have tried reboot the phone as if you yanked out the battery.
There's no shutdown animation or delay as you would get with your power button.

Are these reboot apps skipping some important steps when rebooting?

I haven't used one of these for years, but as I recall you are right, you don't get a clean shutdown.

I guess there is a chance of some data being lost if it was in the process of being written when the phone shut down, as it wouldn't ensure such writes were completed first. But I think you'd be fairly unlucky if you had a problem.

Yes, a shutdown app certainly *does* skip some important steps in the shutdown process. If those steps weren't needed they wouldn't be there. Any lack of problems using a shutdown app is really just a tribute to the ruggedness of Linux and the excellent journaling of the ext4 filesystem.

Not recommended!
