Root Question about removing apps...

OK, just wanted to check before I got rid of it, if I delete the NFC Service and DLNA apps, do I lose those functions completely, or can I find another app in the store to use? I don't use either currently, but I might at some point in the future and don't want to be stuck without, lol.

Not a direct answer, but to play it safe you can just freeze/disable them instead of deleting. I don't have a Volt with me atm, but if I remember correctly those 2 files aren't large. I disabled them on my wife's phone. Or you can backup with tibu before deleting them.

I'm pretty sure those two are services, not apps perse. And I'm pretty sure you can't just download them from the app store but I believe it's a strong possibility you can restore them later.

I had froze them, but they kept running anyway, even with the services turned off. O.o

Currently I have them backed up and uninstalled. I was just wondering if I could get rid of the backups.

Yeah, I know they aren't proper apps, just want sure what else to call them. I just didn't know if I have to have them to use nfc or dlna functions at all, or if I can get a different app to do it.

I did some testing, and reading up on these services in general. DLNA is just a network protocol and can be provided by any DLNA app since there is no special hardware. NFC, however, will not function without the NFC Service app. I downloaded a tester and it wouldn't even see the hardware without the service installed.

The more you know... :P
