Root Question about ROMs and Roaming

Well I'm on vacation, Puerto Rico espesificaly, I was testing Kaos Froyo v23 before leaving the states, when I got to PR I never showed that I was Roaming, My Wife has an Eris as well and showes that's Roaming, I changed my ROM to XTR and showed I was Roaming. My question is, does it depend on the ROM the fact that Im gonna be roaming more than the other or is just that certain ROMs never show that ure really Roaming?

I'm pretty sure that roaming is just roaming, ROMs don't matter.

You would think that, but on CELB 2.8, my roaming indicator is constantly on yet when I check the network status I'm not. OP, I would bet you have the opposite problem of me, instead of your indicator being stuck on, yours is stuck off.

How do I check my network status, to be sure that Im not Roaming at all even if my phone says otherwise?
