Root Question about ROMs

mdelliott

Newbie
I installed the Cyanogen 2.1 ROM on my Eris back in December. Everything still appears to be running just fine - I was curious if I needed to plan on doing any system updates or anything to my phone.

I have been happy with this ROM from the day I installed it. I still rarely ever have to reboot my phone. The phone is responsive and does everything I need so I really prefer to leave it unless there is a reason I need to do an update. I just thought I would ask those more knowledgeable than me...

Thanks in advance,

Mike

are there versions newer than the one you installed? if so id try the newest one and see what you think. you can try flashing it overtop of your current rom without a data wipe(do wipe dalvic cache) so you dont lose your apps and settings.

as long as you make a nandroid backup prior to flashing a new rom,you can always go right to the point where its working well for you.

nothing wrong with leavin it alone if youre happy, but since you can make backups nothin wrong with testing the waters elsewhere either :)

Thank you guys for the information. I will probably do a backup in either case - I will check to see if there is a drastic difference in the version numbers.

Thanks again!

Luv it. Give it a go.

I actually downloaded it the other day then realized FroShedYo had a V11 out. Looking at the preview pics, not sure how I feel about the status bar. I know it's not an important part of a good ROM, just appears kind of plain. I think I will flash it tonight; however.

EDIT: As I've read a little more, I see you can flash the speedometer battery status gauge. Nice.
