Question about Sandisk 64GB Ultra SD card

I just bought the Sandisk Ultra 64GB microSDXC SD card from Amazon ($42) to replace the 32GB external card I currently have in my Note 3. I was planning to copy my current 32GB external card folders/files to my laptop, transfer them to the new 64GB card, and then just replace the card in the phone...will that work? I understand this card comes pre-formatted (ext4?)...do I need to reformat it in the phone first before I transfer the files? Thanks...

I personally re-format every new microSD I purchase in the phone itself, just to be on the safe side. Whether that truly makes any difference, I don't know for sure, but I can say that I haven't had any issues with my microSD's failing on me, following that format.

That said, one thing I can say, as far as copying data over (since I just did it with my 64>128 cards) is concerned, is that there were certain folders that I had on my 64 that wouldn't copy over (for whatever reason).

One folder named .android_secure, which had what seemed to be primarily game files, wouldn't copy over. There were a few files, with just numbers for file names, located in the Android folder, that got a similar prompt that I couldn't copy them over. I tried several different ways to transfer the data, but I wasn't able to manage getting them on to my 128gb card. The files that I tried to copy over didn't seem important enough for me to need on the 128, as everything I use on a daily basis is working fine, without any issues.

Hope this helps, even if just a little. In all the years that I've had android, and needed to copy folders over, this is the first time I've run into a situation where certain files wouldn't copy over. But as mentioned, it didn't cause any problems for any of the main apps I use on a daily basis, so I'm guessing that those files might have been for apps that I only use every now and then.

I did this same exact thing. I just drug everything over from my 16gb to my 64gb on my laptop. Everything is fine
